Testicular Cancer

prostate

Testicles or Testes are a part of the male sex organ. The testicles produce male sex hormones, sperm essential for reproduction.

Testicular cancer occurs in the testicles (testes), which are located inside the scrotum, a loose bag of skin underneath the penis.

Testicular cancer is rare when compared with other types of cancer. However, Testicular cancer is becoming common now, especially in the age group of 25 to 45 years.

Testicular cancer is highly treatable, even when cancer has spread beyond the testicle. Depending on the type and stage of testicular cancer, you may receive one of several treatments, or a combination.

Symptoms of testicular cancer are:

  • Lump or enlargement in either testicle
  • Feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
  • Mild ache in the abdomen or groin
  • Sudden collection of fluid in the scrotum
  • Pain or discomfort in a testicle or the scrotum
  • Enlargement or tenderness of the breasts
  • Back pain

Testicular Cancer most often affects only one testicle.

Consult your doctor if you detect any pain, swelling or lumps in your testicles or groin area, especially if these signs and symptoms last longer than two weeks
